Lab Innovations Award 2026

We’re delighted to share that Nathan Kindred, Lab Technician, Research Lead and Equine/Farm/Avian SQP, has been shortlisted for the Rising Star Award at the Lab Innovations Awards 2026, recognising his outstanding contribution to laboratory science and innovation.

As our Research Lead, Nathan keeps abreast of the latest scientific developments and helps translate research into practical information and educational resources for horse owners and veterinary professionals. Nathan was also instrumental in developing our large redworm larval culture service, which launched in 2025. He took the initiative to research and develop a robust methodology that could bring this into a practical commercial laboratory setting. His work involved extensive research, collaboration with veterinary parasitology experts and the careful refinement of laboratory techniques and protocols.

The result was the development of the UK’s first commercial large redworm larval culture service, giving horse owners and veterinary practices greater access to testing for this potentially serious parasite.

We’re incredibly proud to see Nathan’s scientific curiosity, initiative and dedication recognised with a place on the Rising Star shortlist. It’s also a reflection of something we value enormously at Westgate, the knowledge, care and commitment of the experts behind every test. Our team continually works to develop its expertise and ensure the services and support we can offer are second to none, helping horse owners make informed parasite control decisions based on evidence rather than routine treatment.

Congratulations Nathan, a thoroughly deserved recognition!
